PBA Bowling Challenge Tops One Million Google Play Installs
New version of PBA bowling game for mobile devices soars to No. 1 free sports game
SEATTLE (Feb. 6, 2013) – In only two weeks after its debut on Google Play, the PBA Bowling Challenge sports game has surpassed one million installs on mobile devices, topping highly-successful games such as Tiger Woods Golf and Madden NFL, Concrete Software CEO Keith Pichelman has announced.
Currently available live exclusively on Google Play, the newest version of PBA Bowling Challenge features improved graphics, updated physics, and a robust tournament system. With more bowling balls, venues and PBA stars than previous titles, PBA Bowling Challenge expands on every aspect of game content while still retaining core elements that fans of the franchise have come to expect.
Since its debut on Jan. 15, the newly-improved PBA game hit 1,017,900 installs on Jan. 31 to become the No. 1 free sports game on Google Play and the No. 1 top grossing sports game.
The game’s “approval rating” also came in at 4.6 out of a possible 5, “the highest we’ve seen of all of our games,” Pichelman said. He also noted that the typical PBA Bowling Challenge player visiting Google Play through the banner ad on pba.com plays the game 40 percent longer than the average user, and players play an average of 49 game sessions, far surpassing the average of seven game sessions for other products.
“We have been thrilled with the fantastic response we’ve received from the launch of PBA Bowling Challenge,” Pichelman added. “People love the many tournaments to choose from and playing against real PBA players. Teaming with the PBA again has been a great experience. We are happy the game meets the high expectations of the PBA brand.”
Pichelman also said that while the current game runs on Android devices only on Google Play, the next launch will be via Amazon (for Android devices and the Kindle Fire) followed by Barnes & Noble (for the Nook tablets). A launch for iOS devices is still “a couple of months away” and Concrete is evaluating rollouts to other platforms such as Windows Phone, BlackBerry 10 and others.
